Hello folks,

here is my n°3, a jumbo in lacewood with a cutaway.
Soundboard: sitka
Back and sides: lacewood
Neck: African mahogany with lamination (lacewood strip+b/w/b+rosewood strip)
Cocobolo radial purflings with curly maple bindings
Indian rosewood fingerboard, headplate and bridge
Bone saddle, nut and bridge pins.

This guitar is a gift to my cousin, hence the name "Lucas" made in shell inlay on the 12th fret.

Here are the pictures!

On the pictures we can see that the cocobolo purflings have unfortunately stained the sitka spruce on several spots.
On this guitar I'm pretty happy with the lacquer result, so I left it.
I have no spray equipment, I use some nitre cellulo spray cans, so I cannot afford to remove all the lacquer and do it again, too.

Thank you all ;)
Another good side of this guitar is that the sound pleases me as well..
It will be difficult to finally give it to my cousin ha ha..
I still have 2 months to play it and on the 16th of December it will not be mine anymore :)

Great job, enjoy it while it is with you, then demand visitation.

Thank you Filippo,

The dots on the fingerboard are home made, on this picture you can see them better:

I bought a steel cylinder and filled it with 5 centerpins (they are used in piano actions :) ) and then superglue.

It works fine, and I like the final result.

Thank you for your comment on the heel cap, I personally like when the rosette, end graft and heel cap have the same design.
But maybe it would have been better if the lines where vertical and straight, like on the neck..

Cheers

q.

Wonderful, Quentin. I had not noticed the cocobolo stains until you pointed them out. And the use of curved lines in the heel cap and end graft don't bother me at all. I think they're an interesting touch. It's a beautiful guitar. Very inspiring to me.

I like this one very much. This is making me really anxious to use the qtr sawn American Sycamore I have here in the shop. Too bad I won't be able to execute as well as you have here. . .

I have seen some pictures of wonderful guitars built with american sycamore!
Please make a guitar, and show us! [:Y:]

Actually, this is the 2nd time I use lacewood for a guitar, my #1 was an OM shape with lacewood back and sides, but the finish was screwed up by a guy I paid to apply the finish: he used a colored varnish, which gave a honey stain, I really prefer lacewood like it is on this jumbo.

That's beautiful and impressive work for a #3, lucky cousin you have there.

How did you like working with that Lacewood? It's a bear filling it isn't it :D

Thanks!

Do you mean pore filling?
There are no pores on this lacewood! [:Y:]
