finished my first today! what an incredible feeling to finally be able to strum this thing. i need to adjust the action, it too high. there are tons of things i wish i had done better or different and hopefully the next one will be a bit better. not sure how to comment on how it sounds, i am thoroughly enjoying playing though!

thanks to everyone on this forum! what a tremendously helpful community!

i really want to thank member james watts who graciously spent a saturday with me, showing me his work shop and his process.

so its mahogany sides and back. sitka top. mahogany neck. ebony bridge and fret board. bubinga trim. french polish finish.

Wow...

Looks beautiful.

And a beveled edge and a side port on your FIRST???? Very impressive.

Is there a good description of how to do the beveled edge? I'd love to be able to do that eventually.

thanks for the kind words! it has been really inspiring to see others post their finished guitars and it is fun to finally get to do the same.

it is hard for me to how this sounds but i am pretty happy with it. it has great sustain, like in spinal tap. i am taking it out to my cousin's wedding this weekend. he plays guitar in hot buttered rum, a great hard working bluegrass band, there will be lots of players there and i am looking forward to getting some feedback.

linus- i haven't had much luck finding info on how to do the bevel so i just went for it. here is a link i put up awhile ago trying to show how i did it. i'll try to get better pictures of the next one.
