Over the years I have heard so much praise for the tone and volume projection of the fabled Stromberg Master 400 but I've never been able to see or hear one. The single transverse brace from lower treble to upper bass bout may be the key. Are there any details as to how the top was graduated , just as parallel or x-braced are carved differently, drawings, plans, etc.? Can any of you verify the power of this mythical creature and have any of you experimented with single transverse bracing? |

I thought the brace went from lower bout of the bass side to the upper bout of the treble side. My initial thought about it was that it may act like a modified bass bar. I also thought that he didn't really make all that many with the transverse brace but I am certainly not an expert on Strombergs. I am very curious about it as well. Plus it's nice to have a little archtop talk around here. |
