Post subject:  Baby Taylor - broken headstock - any pics of a clamping jig

Hi everyone -

I picked up a Baby Taylor for the kids to play on for $12.00 at a yard sale today. It has a typical broken headstock - broken cleanly right at the finger joint -

does any one have some clamping jig pictures for this ? or ideas on how to clamp this joint ? I was planning to use Gorilla White to join it back together -

thanks !

John

I have never really made a clamping jig other than 2 flat boards, with one of them curved or carved to fit the profile of the neck back (and volutes). Friendly plastic might actually be a very good tool here.

I haven't fixed any neck with volutes so far, probably because they're much harder to break compared to ones without them.

I have never came across a jig that worked for every different kind of headstock break. There have been times that making a clamping jig that worked perfectly for the job at hand took longer to figure out then the actual repair once I got the clamping procedure right. And the odds are the procedure won't work as is for the next headstock break....Mike
