FB protectors for fret filing

I use those from Stew Mac. But to me, they seem too wide (the gap). Why don't they make them with a smaller gap?

I know what your talking about. I think it so they can fit the extra wide jumbo frets that some use for electrics. Someone should sell them in various fret sizes...Mike

I'm gonna try taping two together to create a smaller slot. Hoping the overlap does not create too much height. IMHO, this is an issue that SM could easily solve. It's a good idea, but as is, very limited.

Ive found a HELIX ERASING SHIELD from an artists shop to be the right guage (the narrowest slot is the one thats suitable)
the only problem is cutting the metal without making a mess....
Mabye a dremel style cutting disc would be the job
