Brought my daughter to camp, visited with friends who work there, spent time with my wife hanging out at the lake. Went swimming. Basked in the gloaming of the day. Stared at the stars. Gorgeous.

But...previous to the weekend, I got some work done on the inlay for back of the viola da gamba. The perimeter and the chevrons are all done, now working on the basket weave grid (most recent photos are still on my camera). However, that will have to wait as I am traveling north for work for three weeks.

Douglas, you're a monster! I wouldn't dare take on that project. [uncle] I look forward to seeing it all finished up.

I ordered new tuners and a bridge for a Les Paul PeeWee that belongs to one of my nephews.
The thing WILL NOT play in tune - probably replace the cheezo plastic nut while I'm at it.

Thanks! Its not actually that difficult to do, just time consuming.

And I still have the front to make and inlay a double line border.

Ok...maybe it is difficult.

With the helpf of Brad way, I strung up my first guitar.
It's a addy zebrawood dread and it sounds awesome!
I wasn't expecting my first to sound this good. I'll have pics up soon.

Got together with a bunch of East Tennessee and North Carolina luthiers and had a blast. Got to show of my clean shop before I get it back to normal again and got some much needed advice on some of my projects. What a treat!!

Must have been tough in the right seat?

I strung up #2 and will post pix shortly it's an improvement over #1 that's for sure! At least I'm moving in the right direction.

I spent the weekend putting the bindings on the Harp Uke. It was trickier than I thought. It should look good when I send off all of the glue and excess. Yes, I know my end wedge is backwards from most everyone elses. Um ... I thought that its more streamlined orientation would improve the tone of the instrument.

Mark, that is totally cool - I may have to steal er, ah, "borrow" some idea from that.

Personally, I just finished a bandura for my kid.

Go for it, Andy!

I did a bit of stylistic "borrowing" myself with this one. Acknowledgements to Ray Kraut, and Michi Matsuda.

Butchered up some baltic birch for some jigs - then proceeded to muck up a fretboard arching jig (router swing type)I was building - some "improvements" I made to the design, made the swing tolerances unacceptable - so Im in the process of undoing the "improvements" - and making some new "improvements"..
made a zero clearance insert for my X5 unisaw, and got the bbirch cut up for my fretboard trimming sled....
Spent alot of time with my puppy - love that little ich!
Cheers

I made a battle axe for my great nephew and finished up Robbie O'Brien's neck jig. Made some boo-boos on the jig but I think it will work just fine.
