Post subject:  Early Martin/Stauffer style build ?

Does anyone know of a print, profile tracing, drawing, etc, of these little guitars being available anywhere? The one with the "corkscrew" peghead and the cone heel. Some of these also had the keyed adjustable neck and elevated fingerboard. I have been searching for some time now and have come up empty handed. Thought possibly someone might have taken a tracing and dimensions from the recent Martin reissue or maybe even an original instrument. And the tuners for this build,....... they are a whole separate project just by themselves.
Thanks for any information or ideas

I have a Stauffer style guitar in my repair pile . If you need something specific I can take some measurements for you. I believe a number of people built guitars in this style so some variation is bound to have occurred.

Check out this website; http://www.earlymartin.com.
It has some info and pictures of early martins, including the one with cone heel and elevated fingerboard with key bolt. No tracing though.

There is actually quite a lot of info on the Stauffer guitars available, just need to look in the right places. The Classical guitar Forum has a number of people versed in the type.

http://www.crane.gr.jp/CRANE_etc/CRANE_Plan_E.html has a generic Stauffer style guitar plan for free download.

Rubner http://rubner-markneukirchen.de/onlineshop/index.php still makes the neck hardware, and the machine heads, if I'm not mistaken.

Scott Tremblay http://www.roseberryguitars.com/ makes these and can help.

And, finally, check out the Early Guitar Network. http://earlyguitar.ning.com/

Good luck!

Thanks for all your input. I guess I'm getting lazy and was looking for a shortcut. I usually have to import image's,scans into AutoCad and scale, spline, etc. to get working drawings for these less than common builds. The early Martin site has some great reference images.
Thanks again and Clay, if I hit a snag I may give you a shout.
