Hi, I am looking into spray equipment for the first time and can see that many of you use and prefer the turbine systems. Is there someone that uses the compressor with HVLP gun? If so can you please tell me what a good setup for guitar finishing would be? I am just overflooded with information and would like something that is able to spray nitro and poly finishes. Gorjan |

I use both. Either will work fine. I like the turbine for it's portability, we got it mainly to apply coatings on site but I have used it in a booth as well. If you already have the air on hand I would get a Gravity feed HVLP and a good filter/separator. Actually the guns that Harbor freight sells are not bad at all, and at a disposable price. Of course there is something to be said for a really nice gun with a choice of needles, tips and caps but I don't know if I'll ever buy another $300 gun. You'll read much about tip size on the web, the important thing to understand is that you can always reduce your coating to spray with a smaller tip but you can't thicken it to work through a larger one. Solids content of your coatings and how you move the gun will play a roll in tip size as well. Higher solids coatings will need larger tips and need to be hung as heavy as you can without sags to get good flow out. Your coatings manufacturers tech dept. may also be able to provide a general idea of recommended tip size. |

Thank you for your recommendations I like the one that I should call Jeff, since I already bought his books on the topic he should be the right guy to get advice from  Todd, I trust your recommendation and I read plenty of good things about the Fuji MM3 and MM4. If I choose turbine I those are on the top of my list Gorjan |

+1 on Todd's recommendation. I took his advice and got the fuji mini mite 3 and it has been amazing. I've only sprayed Nitro so far, but aside from the excellent gun, I love that I can spray nitro in high humidity without using any retarder and I still get a great finish. Thanks again Todd. |
