Post subject:  13 Fret to the Body OM

Hi

I am thinking of amending the Grellier OM plans and making it 13 frets to the body with a shorter scale length of 24.9.

Is this achievable/advisable as long as everything else is moved in proportion ?

Any information on 13 fret to the body would be useful, I thought there was a thread here somewhere on this forum but I can no longer find it.

13-fret guitars seem to have gained some popularity over the past few years. I use 13-fret as standard on many of my vintage models and also do a number of them short scale (24.9"). 13-fret strikes a great balance between moving the bridge a little more to the sweet spot on the top for tone, while still allowing good access to the 12-fret when playing. These guitars are really popular with my customers. I think you would be happy with the result. While you're at it maybe you want to make the OM a deep body. That is another option that many of my customers like.

Kinda like this...

I'm interested in building a 13 fret 000 or L-00 soon too. I just threw this together to see how it would look. Braces are shifted back about 0.20" to keep the bridge wings over the X, and she lost a fret, which I don't mind. I like it.
