I have just finished building a 12string made from Cocobolo.(a first for me) The guitar turned out really well, great sound and the guy who purchased it is very happy with it. However he informs me that each day when he takes the guitar out of the case, it is covered in a white residue or powder. For some reason This instrument keeps exuding this white residue. I'm stumped. Any clues for a kiwi guitar builder?

Only on the Cocobolo or on the whole guitar?

I would be more suspicious of the case than the guitar. The guitar has finish on it, no? If the powder were coming from the wood, it should have to get through the finish first and would be causing more issues than just white powder on the guitar.
Does this particular customer have a cocaine problem by any chance? An addiction to powdered donuts? A baby powder fetish?
Seems really strange to me if the finish on the guitar is fine that anything could be coming out of it.

I would suspect the case also. I've built with cocobolo and no problems. Most new cases need to be aired out because of off gasing. No clue what would cause the powder but I would guess it has something to do with the case.

Unless you finished it with something I'm not familiar with?
