Does any one know if shane of High Mountain is around. I am hoping to order some parts next weekish for a build and need some lutz. If he's not around, anybody know of another place to get good quality lutz?

Since Shane is an OLF sponsor give him first call.

The "other guy" is running a 20% off special. Give him a call and tell him exactly what you need.

Shane has a day job, and he's been having some family medical problems to deal with. Keeps him from responding as quickly.

Chris ,it took me along time to get the lutz from shane .may I sugest john preston at old world spruce?? his AA carpathian spruce at 16 or 17$$ is IMHO a good deal, he/s also friendly and helpful.

+1 on John Preston, although I believe it is his A tops that are priced at $17 and his AA tops are $37 or so. John will try to steer you away from his AAA grade tops unless you want visual perfection. The A grade tops can be very nice! Just ask him to choose a very stiff top for you, if that is what you are looking for. His Carpathian is very "ringy" spruce.

Chris, if Shane isn't able to help in the timeline you need, I have several tops from him. You can buy one or some if you like. I'm in Canada, so shipping would be a bit more than a us supplier. Just another option!

Laurie, very good idea. I was thinking the same thing. I have a big stack of Lutz and would be happy to send a few tops over to Chris.

I too have a lot of Lutz that I would be willing to sort through to find what you need. It would be a good excuse to organize my wood pile.
However, I think there might be others who are closer to you than I am but just say the word.

Thanks for all the help. I am hoping to receive the down payment next week and will then be working on ordering parts. I have learned over and over to not get too committed (like ordering parts) before money is in hand.

I am almost finished with a guitar that is for a college buddy. His brother commissioned it for the guy's 40th birthday. Since they are friends, I decided to go ahead and make the guitar without any deposit because I had everything on hand. I spoke to the brother, the guy who ordered it, last weekend (he had not been responding to my emails, but to be fair, I had not tried very hard to get in touch) and the brother informed me he could not afford the guitar by himself and the rest of his family did not want to get the birthday boy a guitar for his 40th. Unfortunately nobody told me. The bad thing is, now I have a guitar that is almost finished and I have nobody who is going to take it. The good thing is, now I have a guitar that is not for anyone and so I have my first guitar in "inventory" to sell to someone else. So yeah...get that deposit first!!

I'm really sorry to hear that Tony.

For every 10 or so people that fall in love with my guitars and aren't scared by the price tag, maybe 1 pulls the trigger. They go home and get hit by a big bill, life happens, etc.... This is why I don't order the parts until I have the check cleared in my bank account. I also have had to teach myself not to get too emotionally committed/excited about a build until it is truly confirmed.

Thanks Chris. It's not that big of a deal really. I am disappointed that my buddy's brother never notified me, but I am happy to have a guitar in "inventory". I might do a give-away on the UMGF or the AGF at some point.
