Post subject:  Dust filtration systems...

Are there such things as dust filtration systems that will actually filter out the harmful sized dust particles? Or perhaps after market filters that can be fitted into the Delta type systems that hang from the ceiling?
Thanks

You need to look at the micron size. Also how many exhanges an hour your filter can handle. I have a Grizzly unit that is ceiling mounted and uses a 5 micron filter before a 1 micron bag filter. I have air volume that matches my shop volume to a 8 to 1 filtering rate.

That's the best filtration specs that I could find too. However, it's my
impression that it's the sub 1 micron particles that are going to kill me...

I order replacement pocket filters for mine from Grainger. They are rated at .5 micron I believe. I think you can get medical/lab grade ones that filter finer.

I had had a sheet metal shop fabricate some duct work. I have pulled all filters out of my air filter and ducted it to the back wall of my shop. Its in the center of my 800sf shop. It works great and I don't worry about filtration.

So you're saying you just suck up all the dusty air and port it outside? Not really an option for me. How do you maintain climate control?

I'm in a building with a music store in one unit and a violin shop in the other unit. We are all running humidifiers, many. I do not have it running 8hrs a day, only when I need it. That being said it doesn't have much of an impact on my temperature and humidity, even in the winter.
