It has sat through a winter with the ends thickly waxed. Where do I go from here? Process and time line?
Speaking of time lines. Wow - the inner rings are 200-300 years old!

Contact Woodmizer (sawmill) first and get a sawyer in your local area. ( they usually will have a list of people who will come to your location to saw in your area.......typical price from $.15 to $.50 per board feet........depending on how you want it sawed and if there is a minimum charge ) Saw lumber, sticker to air dry then decide if you will be kiln drying or continue to air dry beyond the initial air drying ( typically mositure at your initial air dry will be 18% to 40% ). Once lumber reachs 6% to 12% your normal lumber process. God Bless. Kevin |

How big is that log? I recently acquired some Black Locust logs. Saw to a manageable length (Backs 24 inches, sides 36/37) I split mine into quarters and resawed into billets and sealed the ends. When it gets down to around 8% its guitar time. Its drying out nicely. |

It will be interesting to see what you are able to get out of this log. It appears very buttressed and possibly had multiple leaders that kind of fused into one big tree. |
