Post subject:  Hide Glue Clean Up

I've been using HHG lately and all seems to be going well. One thing I love about it is the easy clean up once it gels. Today I glued a bridge, clamped it and sat down at my computer to do some work. Rats! I forgot to go back in and roll off that gel and now I have dried squeeze out to deal with. Anyone have any tips for removing this glue now that it's dry?

Thanks,

Wet paper towel. Let it sit for a while to re-hydrate the glue and then it comes right off. Although if it's a thick lump of glue, it either takes a long time to soak, or you can soak for a while, scratch off the outer layer until you get to the still-dry center, and soak some more, until you get it all.

If it's squeezout on the finished top, I just dip a q-tip in the heated water I keep my hide glue in, forcing out the excess, then softening the dried glue by wiping it, avoiding forcing water into the seam. Then take a scrap piece of spruce and lightly scrape away the softened layer of glue, rinse and repeat. One of my favorite things about hhg -- ease of cleanup.

Thanks, guys. I was hoping it would be a relatively easy job and suspected that would be the case. I just haven't had to tackle this particular task until now. I appreciate your replies.
