I have a 4' x 8' gluing room in which I use a dehumidifier. The dehumidifier is an older White Westinghouse unit that does a good job, but it does kick off a fair amount of excess heat in the process of cooling the condensing coil. I am wondering if there are newer units that have a scroll compressor, or some other high efficiency compressor that runs cooler. |

http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/sto ... ci_gpa=pla I was surprised at how quiet and cool this one was, and it also took my garage down from 70 percent to 45 percent in just a few hours Probably overkill for a 4 by eight room though.. |

LOTS of negative reviews on that model! Dehumidification is the reverse of evaporation. It takes a surprising amount of energy to cause liquid water to become a gas. And that same amount of energy is released when it condenses. Thus the heat. Seems to me what you want is something that vents the exhaust air outdoors (if you don't want the added heat). BTW, a portable AC unit does the same thing. Mike |

Split dehumidifying unit. Same idea like a split A/C unit, but controls humidity instead of temperature. |

People are whiners. It's cool and quiet, and works fast. |
