The Jet 10/20 is great is some ways and frustrating in others. I have always had a heck of a time getting my paper set firm. The (I think its called) Main Coupler/grip to grab the paper was getting tougher and tougher to work with then a spring sprung in the lever. I took the part out and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to repair/re-tension it. I guess I need a new part. 1. has anyone modded the sandpaper grasp so it functions easier? Or, who should I get the replacement part from. Is the gripper thingee called "Main Coupler" or is the part called something else? The PDF schematics I have looked up are not clear in that area and when I type in the part # there is no photo of the part. Advise would be appreciated! |

Jet techs on the phone will try to advise you regarding repair or replacement. They are not usually too particular regarding the warranty, and will often send parts free. Have the model number and serial number handy. |

Yes , got tired of messing with it and I started using 1/2" of dct tape wrapped around ends of rollers to hold it . since i dont sand anything wide with that one it works quite well ! |

You can go to velcro, we had a thread on that not too long ago. Woodmaster drum sanders use this, and recommend using some filament strapping tape for the ends, I have been using LMI binding tape on the ends and it has been working. |

I have the 16/32 and have never had aproblem getting the paper tight to the drum. Perhaps you've had a defective spring clamp, since it crapped out anyway, and when it's repaired it will function better? |

WOW. Lots of great stuff! I'll call Jet Monday and ask about the part. Meanwhile I might try the Velcro so I can get back in the game. I have some Industrial stuff. BTW I tried 3 across with Spray glue. Didn't go so good. "HEY MOE DUCK!!! NUK NUK NUK |

Hey Brother - hope things are going well.... Yes, getting the paper in snug is a challenge. I've found that the pre-cut papers are actually about 1/2" too long, so snipping the pointy end off makes it possible to feed it into the clamp without bunching up. What you can also do is to take another small piece of sandpaper and "marry" it to the tab that gets clamped - I've found that two layers of sandpaper in the clamp tends to prevent slipping. Then, while rolling it on, make sure that you roll it very tightly, with a little bit of gap (1/16") between each revolution. when clamping the other end, keep the tension on and practice with the special tool that they provide - it's a bit tricky, but with practice, you can figure it out. |

Welp. Allparts wanted 10-15 days to receive the $13.20 part then Priority mail (LOL) it for $7. I called Jet, $13.00 for the part, 48 hours to find it, Ground 5-7 days $10.00. I hope the whole process is quicker than they paint. I asked the lady to snag the part, toss it in a First class envelope, keep the change. No sense of humor. I'll clean up the shop and prep the brace wood...... |

Update; the part only took 3 days. It showed up in a 12"x6"x6" box wrapped in 2' of bubble packing. The ol' 10 gauge to hunt mice thing. Should be back to making saw dust tonight |
