There is nothing like an outstanding set of Koa and about 3 weeks worth of French Polishing.... This one is 'leaving home' tomorrow. Attachment: DSC00720-Web.jpg Attachment: DSC00723-Web.jpg Attachment: DSC00740A-Web.jpg

Nice, That is really blond shellac. The Koa looks grea under the finish. Is this a classical guitar? The guitar is gorgeous. |

johnparchem wrote: Is this a classical guitar? John, Yes it is a classical. I really enjoy working with Koa or its cousin; Australian Black Acacia. I have built a number of instruments with both and they typically bend easily, never a problem with pore filling and always looks like a million when finished. This particular instrument was spec'd by the customer with all Koa details, bindings, headplate, backplate, backstrip, etc. I am pleased with just how well it came out and the chatoyance and figure is great. I had thought about darkening the shellac to an orange or garnet but decided against it when I saw just how much radiance the sides had with just the light blonde. |

Peter, What a gorgeous guitar! The Koa is stunning and the Koa bindings work very well. I have been thinking about you lately and would like to get together when it would be convenient. Glad to see that your work is advancing so well. Best wishes, Max |

That would be a beautiful instrument even without the finish. Your patience with the finish made it OUTSTANDING. Patrick |

Thanks Patrick, Max, Mark and all for the kind comments... With a wonderful set of Koa like that it is hard to go wrong... Mark, on a different subject, did you find a use for the Snakewood yet? I've been curious to see how you plan to use it. |

Hi Peter, That may be the first black topped classic I have ever seen! ![]() Seriously though, that is some excellent photography, especially for highlighting the koa which was obviously your intent. What wood did you use for the bindings? It is a great combination. 'Tis Beautiful! ![]() Mark |
