Hi all, been a while since i kept you all updated on whats up here in the cold country
here are some shots ogf my 2 latest in progress.
The fanfret is a baritone with Lutz, ziricote, and curly myrtlewood.
the other one is a regular style slopeD both my own shaped as usual ...

Hello, Lars, it's good to see some more instruments from you. I always like your guitars. I must say that I prefer the body shape of your fan fret, but that's just my personal preference. I've personally never had an opportunity to play a fan fret, but I think yours is one of more interesting designs I've seen. In particular, I think your bridge design seems very innovative. In addition, its shape will instantly call attention to, and compliment, the fanned frets. I think it's an excellent solution to a design challenge--how to make an attractive bridge that allows for the extreme saddle angle. Lars, I must tell you that I GREATLY respect your design sensibilities and your craftsmanship. If your guitars sound like they look (and I believe they probably do) then it is only a matter of time before you are overwhelmed with a backlog of orders.
Keep new ones coming and share pictures with us. I assure you that I am not the only one here who is inspired by your designs and your craftsmanship.

...and thanks for showing us where you live, too! Spring will arrive in Sweden very soon, if it hasn't already.

Wow Lars .. very cool looking bridge - I must ask however, what kind of string break angle at the saddle will you have on the high strings ??? Seems like it might be too low ??? I guess time will tell when you get the strings on it.

Glad you all like the design. Patric, i agree i to prefer the fan body design better, but wanted to also have a more usual bodystyle, will modify that one for tje next one. .

My Lars, that's quite the bridge on the multiscale. It'll be interesting to hear how that works out for ya.

One does not simply, own enough guitars!

Tony makes a good point about the string break angle on the treble strings. I confess I was so impressed by the overall bridge shape that I didn't stop to consider the break angle. However, Lars, I still think your concept is excellent. Even if a new bridge is required, I think it could have the same basic shape, but with a narrower valley filed in and a slightly smaller indent on the treble side. You should then be able to move your peg holes closer to the saddle on the treble side. With your excellent talent for visual design, I'm sure you would have no trouble making it look just as good as this bridge.

Nice bridge, but what if it needs to be replaced in the future, as it would be harder for a luthier to make a new one to match.

How do you find a bridge blank that big, do you use a fingerboard blank?

Thanks alot guys... If I do need to modify the bridge for the angle it will not be a big problem i think. the bridge is not "ON" the guitar yet its just there for the photo ( havent had the time to check with the angle yet... ) About the weight, I will have to check it again but I do think it was around 25 grams or so, its Brazillian rosewood "slightly darkened".
For this bridge, the blank was wide enough as it was. but otherwise its just to glue up 2 blanks to make it bigger. ( just make sure not to put the holes on the glueline as that would weaken the bridge i think.)

Nice work, Lars. Do I detect a small Somogyi influence in the fan fret? If so, it's nicely carried out. Any chance that you know Gustav, who's apprenticing for Ervin currently? I know, Sweden is a big country, but luthiers are a small group.

Hi Eric. No, I don't know Gustav, but I do know Lars Rasmussen who is also member here at the forum and who also did some time with Somogui. I am also thinking of taking his course as soon as my vallet allows me to . would be awesome...

Isn't myrtlewood nice to work? Between figured maple and figured myrtlewood I'm finding intensely figured myrtlewood much easier to come by...and much easier to work since the maple is almost always much softer and tears easily.

As usual, the originality you put into your designs make me with envy my friend. Maybe it's time to venture off the beaten path. It's just so much easier though. Put brace "x" on line "y".............

I got the neck ready today. so next step is finish. I will do sunburst on the top and just slightly darken the B/S .
just hoping it will turn out the same in reality as in my head hahaha...
