I met this guy today that won the Fine Woodworking drawing and the tools are for sale because he doesn't work with wood. If you are getting started and in need of some planes take a look at the link below, it's a WoodRiver set and the price is pretty decent. There are three planes, low angle block plane, #4 and a #6 plane, WoodCraft sells it for $370 and I think you could pick it up for $250+shipping.
