So today, I messed around with the feed table levelness on my drum sander to get it to be even, and for hours and hours and I can't get it to sand evenly! I don't know maybe I need to spend more time adjusting but you know how they say "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" so I don't want to be doing work I shouldn't do. So any advice on the best way to get it even? It's a delta 18-36 (pain in the butt so far). I just hope it does the job for now after it's set up and all |

I just ran a piece of MDF through mine. Make passes and keep lowering the drum until it the whole width is sanded. Then it should be parallel to the drum. It also keeps you from wearing out your sandpaper when you get too close and sand the drive belt. I'd guess you can glue some sandpaper to it to give it some grip, but I just glued a scrap of top across the back to make a little ledge to brace the wood against. You do want to make sure it is a nice clean ledge. If it's worn, your top could slip up onto it, creating a suddenly deeper pass, shooting the top out of the machine and into your workbench. Mike |

I do not have that sander . I have a Performax. I took the sanding belt & drive belt off and adjusted the drum & belt support till I could get them to sand the same amount of wood. Took maybe 30 minutes but it was worth it. Mike |

I've always done the same as Mike Collins with my Performax which is what the manufacturer recommends. That said, I really like what Mike Lindstrom's fix was for a quick and dirty solution.
