Does anybody know anything about this wood? Have you built with it? What's it like? Let me know, thanks.

It's beautiful, creamy stuff as I remember - never built with it, sorry,

It has much of the same qualities of Mahogany and actually from the same family but lighter in color. It's also very stable and would be good for instruments. ;)

I haven't built with it but one of our sponsors West Penn Hardwoods has some very reasonably priced nice looking sets with a good description of the wood's characteristics. http://www.westpennhardwoods.com/shop/catalog/Avodire.html

Quartersawn Avodire has a really nice figure to it. I have attached a jpeg. Otherwise, i think it looks kind of plain. Same color family as Anigre. Probably about the same density as well. I think the figured stuff would make a great looking guitar, though I have not built with it, so I am ignorant of the sound qualities.
