What radius do you or your customers prefer and on what type of guitar? Factories seem to span from 12-16 inch for steelstrings, curious what everyone else is doing.

My standard if a spec guitar is a compound radius, 12" at the nut to 16" at the 20th fret.

I use a compound type radius of 14" at the nut - 20" at the 21st fret (termination of the board)

How do you do a compound radius? do I make the board 16", and then sand the first 10 frets with the 10" block, or is there more to it?

You can do it by hand but a jig is more repeatable.

So how do you make a jig for it, and what if I don't have a belt or thickness sander, because the only radius jigs (which allows the possibility of a compound radius) requires either one...

No it doesn't. Most require a router. Do a search there are many threads here on compound jigs.

So what are you guys building with compound radii? Dreads for flatpickers? OM's for fingerstyle?

Everything I build now has a compound type radius. For either flat pick or finger style.
