I would like to put a set of these on a classical gtr.Amazon has them listed for a set of 4, $69.Does anyone out there know of a wholesale source , as I would like to buy abt 12 of them for 2 gtrs.I have a sales tax empt number thanks |

The ones on ebay are violin pegs and not suitable You will need to go to www.pegheds.com and buy the flamenco pegs at $120 for a set of 6 This is the manufacturer regardless of brand as i understand. |

Jeff I was under the impression that flamenco pegs are the same as viola pegs??,i.e , that their shafts were very similiar in thickness.I used a set of viola pegs, to make flamenco pegs, an added MOP dots. Checked the peghead sizes ,the flamenco gtr ones are 7mm same as vln.I used the viola pegs because they have a larger thumb grip but I turned down the peg to same size and taper as per a vln peg.At 120 $ a set they may or not be a bargain, the planetary vln pegs on amazon come to 105$ for a gtr set .Since I have never used the planetary or peghead pegs, is there a difference in performance between the 2?, that would offset the price differential. |

The pegs on amazon are violin pegs rather than viola. The string hole position would probably not work for guitar and the reduced size at the string hole with the thicker tapered end would probably not be good unless you are using it in a slot head configuration. I used some pegheds about 2 years ago that I got from Brian Burns but he no longer sells them. |

Large size Viola Pegs are about correct for a Flamenco Guitar. . . . but I'm referring to the wooden Pegs. With the geared Planetary Pegs you will have to buy the type made for Guitars and not the type made for Violins or Violas. As Jeff rightly points out, the hole would be in the wrong position - probably the threaded section too. |

Thanks , for the explanation .I filled the flamenco/ viola peg hole w /birch toothpick, an redrilled.Is peghead then the only supplier of planetary pegs,or are there other suppliers? |

I used the pegheads on the flamenco guitar I just built and I cannot say enough about them. They are absolutely wonderful. From what I recall they are also viola pegs. |

I don't see how that's gonna work on a classical guitar. You mean with the traditional slotted head? |

I've used them on several guitars and the owners and I are not 100% happy. They feel wonderful until they randomly start to refuse to jam in properly, resulting in rubbery, unreliable tuning. They are OK for home or amateur use but I am not recommending them anymore to a professional going on the stage requiring hassle-free tuning. |

I had that issue with one of mine, turned out the conical wedge area had some white residue (polishing compound?) on the surfaces which appeared to allow them to slip. I cleaned the area and it has been fine. |

Plan was to use planetary pegs without the slots for a conventional classical gtr.The white compound could have been peg dope used on vln pegs to make them easier to turn. |
