Post subject:  Purflings to match Ivoroid bindings

I have a L-00 body which is to the point of machining for bindings. I was planning on sun bursting the top, as it has some minor cosmetic issues. I am thinking of using a .060" ivoroid binding and would like to include a B/W/B purfling on top.

Anybody have any experience or ideas for a purfling material that would look good color wise with the ivoroid bindings that I purchased from Allied?

I am thinking I probably don't want to use a purfling with a maple core as that might get discolored by the sun burst color.

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Mark,
Why not use B/Ivoroid/B. I believe Stew Mac has it .
I know Axiom has it.

S-Mac doesn't carry ivoroid any longer. No celluloid at all in fact. LMIi has ivoroid binding but I'm not sure about purflings.
I've used regular BWB stuff with ivoroid and think it's looks fine.

Thanks for the tips.

The celluloid bindings from Axiom with top and side purflings built in are real interesting, but the $27.50 surcharge for shipping doesn't compute for an order for two pieces.

Think I'll make up samples using B/maple/B and B/W/B from fall off pieces in the scrap pile.

Mark
