Post subject: | curved braces |
I'm getting ready to cut my braces (soundboard) & some of the sitka I have has a fairly even gentle curve over an 18" length & I'm thinking about cutting along that line & making the X braces out of it. thoughts please. MM |

the wood wants to bend along the path of least resistance as it dries out, so i would be inclined to do exactly opposite, and use the convex side as the "top" of the brace, ie, the side that does not get glued to something. for bracing in most applications, you want the path of most resistance, for rigidity and strength. |
