Ye, This is a recently completed commission with granadillo back and sides, and a carpathian top. All appointments are ziricote. The finish is a hand rubbed polymerized linseed oil, as per requested by the buyer. The guitar sounds really good, but I can definitely say this type finish, with the 20 or so coats I applied, still does not have the durability of a urethane or polyester. The guitar is warm, and really has a nice tone. I am happy with it, and the buyer, who happens to be a close friend of mine on this one, loves it as well. Stephen |

Very nice guitar. My 12 year old daughter told me the guitar sounded nice. She has her doubts about the singer ![]() |

Stephen, very cool. I especially like the shape you're using for the body. What kind of fretboard is that? |

Hey James, The fretboard is ziricote...Ever since I started using fretboards with heavy sapwood sides, I have been requests on most of my orders for similar aesthetics. Fred...Yes, that is my daughter Bryleigh at the start of that track....awesome:) The body style is my own small jumbo, 20" length, 15.5" lower bout, 10.5" upper bout. Stephen |

Beautiful work! IMHO, you have chosen two of the best 'bang for the buck' tonewoods currently available. |

Beautiful guitar, Stephen! I like the finish. Is your "hand rubbed polymerized linseed oil" Tru-oil? Where did you get the Granadillo? |

Hey guys, thanks so much for the input. The finish it an actual polymerized linseed oil. It is gun stock finish made for brushing - that I used with a wipe rag. The name escapes me right now, but it is a green can ![]() I purchased the granadillo about 4 years ago from a local lumber supply store. I built my first acoustic guitar with it, and now my 6th. I have 2 sets left ![]() The radial purfling is a hold over from Bob C from a while ago. It is 0.04" flamed maple inside of 2 sets of 0.01/0.01/0.01 b/w/b strips. I have since started making my own because I like it so much. Thanks! Stephen |
