| Post subject: | mounting a drill press table |
I would normally use nuts and bolt to mount a drill press table that I made myself, but I have a Rexon drill press that has the exact same spec and look as this one: http://www.grizzly.com/products/12-Spee ... ress/G7943 How do I mount a drill press table to something like this? It does not have any through slots other than the big hole in the center. |

I set up my table for quick release. If you look closely you should see locator dowels have been glued in place to fit the slots in the drill press table. A shim has also been glued on the front edge which levels the table once the pedestal rack and pinion is locked into position. I can have the table off and then back on again levelled and ready to go in just a few seconds.  This may not be the same table as your press but you could use the same principal on anything really. Cheers Kim It seems like a good idea actually, bypass the table construction itself and allow it to be quickly removed if needed. Its just those toggle clamps, at 10 dollars a piece, seems a little steep... |

Make wooden blocks that will register your add-on table to the edges of your metal table. Make them exactly as tall as the thickness of your metal table. Then screw small hardwood latches to each wood block. They can pivot into place to "latch" the wood table to the metal table. Or make two parallel rails on the underside of your wooden table, a little thinner than the metal table with a stop block so your wood table won't bind against the column. Span over the underside of the front and back of the metal table with hardwood sticks about 2" wide. Screw these into your wood rails from below, or attach them with wing nuts, etc. Lots of ways to go about this. |
