I would extend the port in that direction by an 1/8" or so. If you make a symmetrical pencil mark along that edge and follow it closely, it should be ok. I think if you leave it, or attempt a patch of some kind, you will probably be unhappy with it every time you look down when you are playing it ![]() |

Sand it smooth, it will not look right filled. I would round it over more to remove the gouge. Only you will know about it if you only to the one side. |

Jim and Rod are giving excellent advice here. A fill will never look right, nor will it ever be the same color as the surrounding wood. In fact, a fill would call attention to itself. I don't believe you want that. If you gently sand out a longer oval on your sound port, you will be much happier with it. As Julia Child famously said on her national television cooking program--after dropping her chicken on the floor: "No one will know but you and me." Patrick |
