Most probably already know this but a transfer punch in a hand drill is great for making starter points for drilling tuner screw holes. I've tried other methods but this works best by far.

Well centered drill hole after marking with the transfer punch.

I still use a pin drill and do all my tuner screw holes by hand. Very easy to get 'em centered that way. Do the same for the side dots on the FB.

How does the drill help? Say versus using a brass spring loaded punch...

That's actually kind of what I'd been using for 5 or 6 years. ( http://www.greatplanes.com/accys/gpmr8130.html ). It required two hands to use, and with a geared tuner you had to rely on taping it in place and the whole thing could be a little clumsy. It did work well enough though.
With the transfer punch I can exactly match the diameter of the hole and both tape the tuner in place and steady it with one hand while I hold the drill with the other and make the centering mark.
Quicker, simpler, and seems much less hassle and I always seem to get a perfectly centered mark.

Maybe this would work. http://www.leevalley.com/US/wood/page.a ... 3317,42265
I've used these for hinges, and anything else that needs a centered hole.
