After having the workbench built I started work on reinforcing the neck. First I tried to build a router jig that would allow me to route this thing without error, but as you can see, the router bit is too short, so I ended up having to do this: ![]() ![]() It works fairly well, in that I can keep the router bit fairly steady with this setup even though it looks a bit scary. Here is the first slot: ![]() Then both slots: ![]() At this point I started fitting the mahogany plugs: ![]() I've decided to use hide glue because now the joint is fairly tight and not sloppy like last time: ![]() Time to start cooking: ![]() And finally here is the plug inserted: ![]() There is a very small (.005") gap in one of the wood plug, if it becomes a problem I will fill it with CA. |
