Hey guys,

I know every year I say I'm not going back but they've made me an offer I can't refuse so I'm headed back to the land of black gold for another Winter. It's a couple months earlier than normal but I'm moving up the ladder a bit further this year so I need to go in early to do some work in the shop and get some tickets. It's business as usual at CVT while I'm gone. Email may be a bit slower while I'm away but we will still get back to you. For anything urgent just give us a call at the shop.

Thanks again to all who ordered sets last month, hopefully I'll have another batch ready in the Spring. I'll be home fulltime by April.

If you're talking Albian, Kearl, Horizon, Syncrude or Firebag, I get up there quite frequently Jason. Maybe we can have a coffee sometime and talk guitars.

Sounds like we're working for Nexen this year. I pretty much eat work and sleep while I'm up here but if you're swinging through it's doable ;)

What are you up to in the oilsands?

Jason,

If you have some time - can you post some pictures of your work place ? I figure some cool oil rig pictures would be great to see.

Thanks ! and be safe up there.

I'll look and see what I have from last season, right now I'm working in the yard getting the rig ready for Winter so it's pretty boring for photos.

I wish I had more old drilling photos, I used to work on really big rigs drilling holes that were 3000+ meters deep and took months to drill. Up here we're on little rigs drilling 300-500 meters and we're done in 3-5 days.

Sounds like you're doing the multi-well SAGD thing Jason. I'm mostly involved with the mining operations well North of you. Have fun!!

Yup. We're primarily a coring rig. Taking core samples and occasionally installing SAGD monitoring wells. I almost went to Firebag last year but changed crews and ended up working on a Grizzly contract. I've thought about getting into the mining end of things to turn this into a more year round thing.

I'm coming home for a few days this weekend (Thurs-Mon) so I'll see if I can get some pics up from last Winter.

Interesting stuff Jason. We're supporting a coring operation for Fugro/Fluor right now at Kearl for the new mine.
