Beautiful! There is only one thing I dislike about this guitar and that is the fact that I didn't build it. Great job!

That's excellent, Lars! I love the shapes you build into your guitars. Excellent use of your particular wood choices on this one, too. I think everything about it is superb.

Lars, that looks very nice from here!

13 freter hey? What scale did you use? Bridge looks like it's lower in the bout than a typical larger body guitar? This might be why you're somewhat disapointed in the sound. I bet is sounds fine, just tight sounding and a bit briter than you'd hope, maybe not as much sustain as you hoped either...That extra 3/4" of rear shifted bracing can make a bit of a difference.

Anyway, looks great. I really like your headstock shape.

Thanks a lot . Rod its a 12 fretter or even a little less. scale is 25.0 I am actually really happy with the sound been playing it and strings have been on over the night etc. sounds awesome. hard to put the sound to words but it has a good match between high and lows. lots of bottom and still brilliant sounding. a real crispy sound. it is very lightly built with larrivee type bracing under the bridge plate but only 1 finger brace on the sides. (if I recall right) :D . what I find hardest in my building right now are the frets and fingerboard. To get the fingerboard perfect looking after been fixing with the frets, its hard top get scratches of when the frets are in place etc. I also stress to much while building although I am getting better at that to :geek: . so fretboard and finish are whats bothering me most i think. But next one will be perfect duh :D :D ...

Again, thanks a lot for your comments my good friends. [:Y:]

Lars,
I haven't been posting here much on the OLF but do stop in occasionally. First of all, I think you are correct to have the bridge pin holes bother you -- they would definitely bother me; however, you also need to recognize that many customers absolutely will not see the alignment problem!!! Secondly, overall your work looks terrific. You've got a sense of design and proportion that not many aspiring builders achieve (although, I would work on making your bridge "edgier" with less rounded edges and having a bit "heavier" feel -- I think that will truly complete this design).

It is hard determining where to draw the line at perfection. I think I suffer from that as much as any other builder in the industry but I have reached a level where I am comfortable with my work. For me, I struggled a lot with cosmetic design (bridge design, body shape, etc.) which didn't come as easy for me as others. I also struggled with binding and clean miters, seamless neck/heel joint, tight-fitting nut/saddle work, clean interior work, and many other things. The areas that bothered me, I improved on until I felt that they were as good as humanly possible.

The only way to achieve the level you desire is to push on forward and address the problems you see in your guitars. You many need to find an alternate method that works better for you or perhaps purchase a tool that will make things easier for certain task. I can't express how important it is to have accurate jigs and templates to guide you and refine your process so that you know you can perform a task perfectly.

I truly mean this -- I think your guitar looks absolutely fantastic and you should be extremely proud. In my opinion, the remaining work is just "small stuff" and that will take time. But trust me, you will get there!!!

Best Regards,
Simon

**Edit -- this was meant to go under your other thread regarding "perfection".

Very nice, Lars! I love the burst as well. [:Y:] I've not been a fan of sunbursts in the past, but nice ones like this are changing my opinion.

Very nice. Over time how well it stays in tune will be far more important than little alignment problems anyway... Beautiful job. [:Y:]

Hey Amigo,

Your work just keeps getting better Bro. You have a great eye for the artistic detail and it really shows in this one. To put so much original design into a guitar is pretty remarkable to me. I'm sure most will agree how hard it is to come up with a shape that works and hasn't been done. Not to mention names....... all the good ones were taken long ago. I was just trying to come up with a bridge shape today. :? Yours is cool. Looks like a little hump at every bridge pin? I think that shape is working well for you also. Wish I could take it for a ride.

Keep up the great work my friend.

Cheerio,
Danny
