I would like to place a volume pot between the pickup in my acoustic guitar and the powerjack preamp. Is this possible, and how? I have an email in to Fishman, but no reply yet. I have this posted in the electric guitar subforum as well. Wasn't sure where to post it. i hope I did no harm. |

Not knowing the nature of their circuit board, my guess is no as the only way to do this without modifying the circuit board itself is to put the potentiometer between the pickup and the jack, on the hot leg. Not sure what resistance you'd need nor whether there's something about the nature of the pickup that you'd want the volume pot further down the signal path. You could consider getting the Ellipse onboard preamp which mounts in the sound hole and gives you on board controls, or alternatively the on board preamps which are permanently installed into the side of the guitar, including the Aura. I'm not a fan of these because technology changes and then you're stuck with a hole in your guitar, but it is an option. But the Ellipse is fairly nondestructive. -- db |

You should get a reply from Fishman about this. I'm a Fishman dealer and they are generally good about responding quickly to tech questions. It requires removing a 10 OHM resistor from the circuit board and wiring in a 20K volume pot. Really pretty easy and works great. If you don't get a reply soon from Fishman, contact me and I'll e-mail you a diagram. |

Thanks, guys. Got a reply from Fishman. Frank from Fishman sent me this PDF. Attachment: Powerjack Vol-Tone.pdf I'm posting this in case someone else might want the info. I don't believe Fishman would have a problem with this, as it may actually reduce the number of requests for this info that they have to respond to. Thanks all for your help. |
