Another thread on tap tuning is already discussing vibrational modes. We talk a lot about the first few modes, but, of course, they go on forever, just like harmonics on a string. Yeah, I think we concentate on the lower modes as it's difficult to control the higher frequency modes. Also, the monopole mode is a significant sound producers so it carries a lot of weight toward making a steel string guitar sound balanced. |
