i got my self some planks of what i think its some kind of american spruce.
around the first decades of 1900 there were a lot of houses built here with wood manufactured on U.S mainly with "pinotea" which is pretty dense conifer (podocarpus guatemalensis i believe) and there is some lighter stuff which is the one i have.
it was taken from an old counter table that belonged to a store. there were nail holes, cracks and wear out but i could get a good deal of clean small boards.
im gonna be using it for brace wood, its very light and pretty stiff. the colour is darker than the german spruce top, somehow yellowish or more ambar looking. the odour is similar only that it smells like older.
any clues?
