| Post subject: | Guitar dimensions |
While looking for guitar sizes for the next guitar I want to build, (000 size 12 fret cutaway). I find dimensions of the upper and lower bouts as well as waist size but there is never any mention of the placement of them as in how far is each one from the top of the guitar. Also where does the sound hole go in relation to the center line of the waist. Thanks for any guidance in pointing me to a source for this info. |

The placement of the radius of the curves will vary from maker to maker. Martin is the base line. As for sound hole , this may change as a 12 fret will use both 19 or 20 fret boards plus the scale length will change. It can be 24.9 or 25.4 both scale lengths are used on a 000. So there is on one answer for you but you now have more info than before. Scale length and number of frets determine sound hole location . |
