Now I have some questions. ![]() I got the sandpaper to go with the dishes. Is it ok to leave the paper on through all the building steps? I don't have to take it off in between shaping the braces and gluing them on, do I? Hmm. I guess that's the only question I have for now. ![]() Thanks in advance, |

Phillip, You want to leave the paper on or it will lose its tack and will slide around when you "drive the bus" in the future. When you have the back in the dish and you are going to glue on braces, you should cover the sand paper with some news paper or anything to protect the plate from getting scratches on it while you glue up your braces. Perhaps it's better to put something between the sandpaper and the top when gluing in the braces with the go-bars as you may likely mark/scratch the top itself. I've seen it suggested to keep and use the backing paper for the PSA sandpaper disc supplied as protection for the top, but a piece of plastic sheeting or something similar should do just as well. |

I keep a big roll of heavy brown craft paper from Lowe's for this and other things around the shop. It's very handy. Chris. |

Thanks, guys! That sounds good. If I think of any more questions as I go along, I'll post them here. |

This is my recommendation Phillip, just save the backing paper from the sanding disc. If you loose it or threw it out then craft and or news paper works well also. Hope they work well for you! I like to use plastic coated freezer paper for gluing and finishing. The plastic coating keeps glue or finish from soaking through and messing up whatever is underneath. I put the coated side on the bottom. |
