I thought I would post a few pics of my first burst. It's very local Western Maple and WR Cedar L-OO. Lumberyard walnut 3 piece neck. I wanted to post this mostly to thank Haans for his technique with bursts. It's a great method if you have wood you don't want to cover up. I haven't seen you around for a while Haans. I hope all is well. Also, thanks to the ever practical Padma for recommending a very reasonably priced and perfectly adequate Paasche airbrush.

New logo by Andy Depaule. Logo, rosette and FB dots are black MOP. Nice stuff!

As always, I learned a lot on this one. This one had it's share of boo boo's. I weekend luthierized this one and that doesn't seem to work too well for me. I do better if I get in the groove and stay there. Fortunately once you get it all shiny, a lot gets overlooked. ;) . The next one will look better though.

This is my first go with Cedar and I very happy with it. It was a very stiff piece and I like the outcome.

Thanks for looking.

Cheers,
Danny

Spectacular! I like the way you left the burst essentially transparent. That amount of lovely and curly wood should not be completely covered up.

Yeah, what Steve ^ said!
Just look at that maple--wish that grew in MY backyard.

Oh my!!!! Absolutely beautiful, Danny! That back is just stunning. I wish the photos were a little larger so we could see the detail.

Thanks Guys! Trans tints in alcohol do bring out the best in a piece of wood.

Steve-- It is nice to have wood like this around here but WE have to put up with bad Mexican food and the odd day of below freezing temperatures. :( BTW The treatment on your latest little beauty is pretty stellar. Lots of cool contrast. I'd love to see that one up close.

Charlie-- I don't do too well with the photo posting. I've been using a site called Shrink Pictures. I'm not sure how to post the maximum size photo. OLF seems to only let me post smaller sizes..... which is ok because any bigger and you would see some of the fine sanding marks that are show up as soon as you stain. I should have known better. I've done a fair bit of staining in my time.

See Ya

No worries Danny. I have to say I think I drooled a little on my keyboard the first time I looked at the pics of the back. pizza

I absolutely LOVE the burst ... can't believe it's your first ... having done some myself, I can vouch for how difficult they can be. Very tastefully done!!!
