I have been working on this one on and off for quite some time...was definately a project with many mistakes !!!and my first commission build...built for a friend for a Dollar plus materials, somehow I think I am in the hole though??? Sapele back and sides, sitka top with light bear claw .. and a bunch of plam tree inlays he handed me including a wooden pickguard that was already inlayed. |

It looks as tough you recovered nicely from your "many mistakes" Wes. This project really turned out nice. That ribbon stripe sapele is really is outstanding. Over all a great looking guitar. Your friend got a real bargain. I'm glad that I'm not the only one for whom the building process is a series of recovery exercises. Cecil |

Nice! Good job bending the sapelle through the cutaway. The only time I tried to pull off a Venecian cutaway with Sapelle I ended up with a Florentine. (CRACKKKKK!) Looks like you earned that dollar! |

Very nice, Wes! I love the sapele. How did you finish it? Is the finish tinted at all? I'm working on a sapele 000 right now and am thinking about how to finish it, so I'm curious. Would love to see a photo of the back. |

I really like the sapele too...finish is em 6000 pore filled with z poxy three coats then sanded back to wood, I then rubbed a thinned out coat of zpoxy and scuffed with scothbrite to keep from sanding through, I like the look of the zpoxy..then sprayed a couple of coats of zinsser dewaxed shelac with a pravail sprayer then 20 coats of em6000 |
