Just killed a fly that was bugging me. If you clap your hands directly above the fly, it will jump up into them right when your hands come together. If you try to smack directly down on top of them (with your hand), it can easily avoid being swatted, unless you use a fly swatter, which I don't keep around. |

If the fly is on a table, you can coil your middle finger on your thumb in the classic "flick" position, and slide your hand toward it. My brother told me that flies can't process movement and vibration at the same time, so they don't move, that is, until you launch them! This is the ideal technique if you happen to have a beer in your other hand. I haven't tried the ![]() ![]() ![]() Alex |

Sometimes I just snag them out of the air by hand, and turn them loose outside ![]() Never managed it with chopsticks. |

My roommate has a little dustbuster just for this purpose. Sucks them right up. |

When I was in high school, we learned this strange little torture act for flies. Catch one alive (use ur favorite technique). Toss it in a half full glass if water. Fill cup with some paper towels to keep it under water... Till it drowns. Remove fly and salt it down. It will come back to life. Frankenfly! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGs93XhN ... ata_player Wonder if this works with pets and people? Mike |

Catching them under beer bottle caps was always fun, but only one per beer. Bob |

Apparently, from what I have read, drowning them in beer is just as effective. You WERE talking about the fly, and not you, right? -m |

Another trick to catching a fly, if you're not super quick, is to approach it from the front. Seems like the little buggers always like to take off in a forward direction. Kind of like a gyro-copter, I suppose. |
