I recieved an order of wood from Canada. It hd stickers all over it saying "opened for Customs inspection" or some such. This is the first time this has occurred for me. My question is, does anybody know if this is a random thing, or a new regular occurrence. Doesn't really matter I guess, I'll still buy wood from Canada, I'm just curious. |

Yup, It's a random thing. Happens once in a while with shipments going either way, across the border. |

It happened to my most recent shipment from Canada as well GW. It was the first order that was ever checked out of about 20 so far that I have received from different sources in Canada. Luck of the draw I suppose. |

I used to work at John F Kennedy airport in NY many years ago. Random inspections of packages coming from other countries is common and happens all of the time. Having a package inspected is no different than being singled out for a bag search when you pass through customs on a return trip from out of the country. It is supposed to be random but often does not seem that way. Especially in this case, since I believe GW and I ordered from the same supplier and both had our packages inspected! Unless I am mistaken about the point of origin for your package GW. Did anyone else order from British Colombia and have their package opened by customs in the last month or so? |

Thanx guys! Tony, I'm fairly certain our packages had the same origin. ![]() |

I'm just glad they came through undamaged and repackaged fairly decently. These "Cutting Boards" need to be handled with care. ![]() |

Can't imagine what sort of plentiful recreational agricultural product originating from BC would be motivating customs officials to start inspecting the odd package from there ... ![]() |

Come on guys, since 9/11 there's a lot more scrutiny at the US borders, including mail. As it should be. Nothing to do with Canadian or Mexican nationals per se. Anybody can send anything from any country if they want to, recall the UPS/FedEx bomb scare of a few months back. I've had to wait over 3 weeks sometimes for packages from Canada because of customs. |

Not yet............ I have had one two two packages a month from BC lately and no opened packages. The Canadapost strike slowed things down. Greg Clinchriver Instruments |
