What do you use to dewax a board? I need to dewax this ebony board so i can glue it up. This whole board is waxed. ![]() |

Scraper and naphtha, it's pretty fast. |

Just a thought - put the wood in the fridge to get cold so that the wax becomes brittle, and then scrape carefully so as not to build too much heat from the friction that will send the wax deeper into the wood, and then use the naptha. Might be a dumb idea, but I get those all the time! Alex |

Thanks for the replies. They will probably work, but is there something i can just spray on then hose off that will disolve the wax? Ebony is so dense that i'm not concerned about it soaking into the wood. This board was skip planed and doesn't have a very level or smooth surface to scrap to remove all the wax. This isn't the only board i will be doing this to and they are too big for the fridge anyway. I thought about running them through my planer outside but don't really want to contaminate the planer knives and bed with the wax. |

The boards I've had to clean I just did with the planer. Never had a problem with any residual wax on the tool. |
