What is the best way you have found to get wood dust (i.e. rosewood, bloodwood, etc) off of lighter woods like maple and spruce? |

I normally vacuum first, then blow with compressed air. |

I like the shop vac too. I've got a fitting that throttles down the end of the hose to a round half inch opening. I glued a styrofoam washer on the end so I don't have to worry about scratching things. Works as well as anything I've tried. One more tip: I try to avoid sanding with anything finer than 220 until I have everything sealed. The coarse dust from 220 sanding doesn't get stuck in pores as badly as finer dust will. As was mentioned elsewhere, if you can avoid sanding altogether--just scrape until you're ready for a seal coat--that works even better. |

Powerful industrial vacuum cleaner. I hold the hose with my fingers keeping the end about 1/8" off the surface to create a venturi effect. I figure I'm holding it right when I hear lots of noise at the hose end which means fast moving air. Works for me. Pat |
