Attachment: side.jpg Attachment: front.jpg Attachment: rosette.jpg I picked up this 1980s guitar at a yard sale this morning for $20 figuring I could always use the case and tuners for that amount. It is very clean but for the fact it seems to have sunk just a little where the fretboard meets the rosette. I have been building like mad but have not done any repairs. I have no idea how to get the neck off without trashing it. I'm wondering There is a block of mahogany the trussrod runs thru below the fretboard. I'm wondering if I could lift the area just ahead of the rosette and glue a block from there to the endblock as a fix. The guitar looks and sounds good but as you can see from the photos the neck angle is about 1/4 inch off. Any ideas. |

I have repaired a boat load of these back in the late 70's and 80's. Usually the neck blocks had come unglued from the top, sides, & back. Rather than add some block or other, figure out what has shifted and repair it back original. I know the guitar is probably not worth all the work, but if you want to ever do repairs for $$, you should learn how to do it right. |

You might be surprised at how relatively easy it is to remove the neck and re set it. A good playing guitar with a few minor blemishes is always worth more than one that doesn't play. I re set the neck on a harmony twelve string and it wasn't bad at all loosening up the glue joint using heat and steam. Removing it is the least of your worries I would guess. |
