Post subject:  Exiting lurker mode for an introduction . . .

I've been a semi-regular reader of this forum for quite a few years, and since I am starting my first build from scratch, it's high time I at least post a short intro. I have one kit under my belt, and I have been slowly working my back through the archives absorbing as much as I can from all the great information found there. We will see if any of it sticks in my brain when I start asking questions.

I currently have a Big Box special on the bench - HD maple for neck, Lowes spruce for bracing, mis-matched cedar top, etc. Just trying to develop skills without breaking the bank.

Thanks to Todd Stock for the tutorials on building and using a shooting board. That shooting board, a tuned up Millers Falls #14 plane, and 10 minutes and I had done what I was sure was going to take me at least a day or two and a couple of sets of soundboards to get right. I really surprised myself.

It's been said before, but I'll say it again . . . this is a great forum. You owners/moderators/contributors should be proud of yourselves. Not may places like this on the in-tar-webs. Keep up the good work!

Back to lurker mode now . . . and time to go slot a fretboard.

Stephen
