I have been looking at the specs. for the Martin 000-28 Eric Clapton. I see the saddle is radiused at 16" but it does not say what the fretboard is radiused at or what the back and sides are radiused at. Am I correct that the fretboard radius would be 16" and the back radius would be 20 inches and the top radius would be 28 inches? I did a couple of searches but couldn't find anything on the Eric Clapton as such. Chuck |

I'm just wondering, why the Eric Clapton? When I started building I was attracted to 000's. And I very much liked the appearance of the 000-28EC (except for the awful tinting on the top). So I made mine look a lot like a Clapton model, but I used specs on 30's guitars. A Clapton model will sound dead compared to 30's specs. |

A Clapton model will sound dead compared to 30's specs. I really don't care that the guitar has Eric Claptons name at all. I just have played a number of them and have really liked the feel of them and the bass response. I know I want a 1 3/4 inch nut or 1 13/16 inch nut and a wide 2 1/4 inch string spacing at the saddle also. I like the fingerboard radius more than on my guitars so I was thinking of building one that was similar but with 1/4 inch bracing not 5/16ths. I have never played a 30s 000-28 so I have nothing to compare the sound to or the feel too. Where did you get the specs for the 30's 000-28 such as the bracing and other measurements? So my build will not need to be exactly what a Clapton is but I really like the radius on the fretboard and just how the guitar sits when I play it and the sound when played. I am thinking that may have something to do with the radius' used in the build especially the feel of the fretboard. Chuck |

Here is some comparison between the EC and a standard OM, normally they radius the saddle to match the fretboard so I am going to guess that its 16 inch http://theunofficialmartinguitarforum.y ... Comparison http://theunofficialmartinguitarforum.y ... /000-vs-OM But why not just make the fretboard radius and anything else the way you want it? My go to guitar is a 12 fret long scale 000 with a wide (1-3/4 nut, 2-1/2 saddle) flat (20 inch radius - I play lots of slide) fretboard, 1/4 scalloped - slot head, 25 inch top, 15 inch back (the two radius dishes that I own). Doesn't fit any exact model description but it fits my playing style perfectly. |

The backs are 15 foot radius fretboard is the same as the saddle 16 in the top is flat with a 1 1/2 degree angle from the top of the sound hole to the neck block. The top X braces are 42 foot. |
