Grind the tip of a #11 x-acto blade into a kind of flat hook, grab a paper towel and remove the glue squeeze out from the slots right after you glue your bindings. Do not wait for this one, as when the glue is dry it's a bear to clean the slots. |

You might consider changing glues for the FB binding. I switched to medium CA about 20 guitars ago and it's eliminated this problem. |

I take the plastic lid from a can of peanuts and cut them into thin strips and put them into the fret slots. Peanut can lids are almost an exact for a .022 fret slot. They stick out past the edge of the fret board a bit so I slice them off with a razor blade so they are flush with the side of the fret board. After I glue the binding on, I just pull the strips out with the tip of an X-Acto blade or a needle. They are usually clean enough after this. I also made one of the chisels described above in case something seeped in or to clean out any sanding dust after I radius the board. |

I just bound a fretboard last night. I use just a teeny bit of wood glue and hold the binding in place with masking tape, takes about a minute and a half per side, I never have to clean my slots out. |
