I was in Tennessee and Alabama over the weekend . My Brother lives in the "west of Birmingham area" and it was 1/4 Mile from his house . All my family are of . However I am sure many arent. Has anyone here had or are in dire straights from this round of storms?

Here is hoping all are well.

Mike O Melia is from Huntsville AL. He started this thread. http://www.luthiersforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10112&t=32022

I believe Jimmy Caldwell is from Alabama, and probably some others. I hope they're all OK. I've got friends in Birmingham, as well as Mobile, Red Bay, and Killen Alabama. They're all OK. My brother in law is in Alabama right now working on the power grid.

It would be nice to hear from Jimmy, as well as any other OLF'ers that were near the storm.

At 9 PM Wednesday, an EF1 passed directly over my house and shop, clipping the tops of the trees. There was serious damage down the street, but all we got was a tree limb through the dining room roof, and another limb through the windshield of my car. I climbed up on the roof (in the pitch black) and placed some tin over the hole. It saved us from serious water damage from the second storm cell 1 1/2 hours later, which dumped about 3" of rain in 15 minutes. I have never seen so much rain in my life.

Greene County, which is the next county to the northeast, had two tornadoes...an EF2 and an EF3. Six people died from those.
All the national attention is focused on Alabama, but these storms killed 34 in Tennessee.
My nephew, who is a University of Tennessee student in Knoxville, got some of the most severe hail damage on his car I have ever seen. The windshield has several stars, and the top surfaces are dimpled like a golf ball. Even the sides of the car are badly dented. He was driving at the time.
Tornadoes are extremely rare here, because the mountains are so near. The last time we had anything like this was in the supercell outbreak in 1974. Even Madison County NC, which is more mountainous, got a tornado Wednesday. I don't think that has ever been recorded before.

Sort of with Tablerock and Taneycomo both flooding here in Branson. some houses the earth is giving away on the banks of the river(taneycomo lake) and have had to be evacuated. So far good for me, but I see animals from all over the world coming in two by two and a really big wooden boat in the lake. I don't know what that means, but can't be good
