That is one seriously pretty dred. Is that plan (cutaway) available somewhere?

Beautiful work Adam!!! Both guitars are very nicely done. Hard to believe they are your first 2! wow7-eyes

I especially like the rosewood back on the dread. Is that the natural grain and color, or did you stain it?

Hey thanks guys :D

Um the cutaway wasn't planned per say as copied from my buddies Takamine dread. I couldn't quote the model but I could find out if you want me to.

The rosewood is the natural wood, no stains on any of these guitars though the backs and sides were all filled with z-poxy.

I think I remember you.
You went into building a bunch of geetars a few months ago, I think.
Nice!
I really like the original headstock design!

Nice work! I like the bubinga...it is some sweet looking stuff!

Just curious, and please don't take this the wrong way, but...umm.... you must be clinically insane to start 13 guitars at the same time when you have never built guitars before, right? Thats a heck of an undertaking! Good luck sir.

Yes 13 Guitars seems like a lot but they are coming a long.

Now that the first ones are done the next ones don't seem as intimidating.

I will be done 6 more within the month.

Very exciting!

I like the wide shell, nice choice, and the ab backstrip. Its not too much, and not too little. Nice job Adam.

Nice clean work, Adam. That's quite a start. You must have some prior woodworking experience. Did you get the shape of your headstock from Bruce Petros? I've always liked his headstock, which is a little reminiscent of Wayne Henderson's.

That's some really nice work you have going on there!
13 at the same time - your workshop must be a pretty good size, and judging from the photos you have some serious kit.
Is that your own workshop?

Beautiful work! If those are your first two, you're on a path to build some really impressive instruments!

Surprisingly enough, I have no prior woodworking experience. Lets just say that I needed to learn pretty fast about how much of a pain wood can be ha! The headstock is Doug Ilton's shape. He is the fellow that taught me.

Here is his site.

I have already redesigned the headstock to a similar but more a-symmetrical shape. I will show you on guitars 3-8 coming up soon.

The shop is in the basement of my parents house. Thankfully my dad had most of the equipment and we only needed buy things to make the jigs and the materials. He used to make things like cabinets and do renos around the house so thankfully that accumulated some nice tools for us. He has been working with me part part time while since I have graduated school last December I have been working the guitars almost full time.

What do you plan on doing with all of them when your done? And what made you want to build so many at once?

Planning on turning this into a business eventually so I will be selling them.

I heard once that "anything that is worth doing is worth over doing" so that has been the mentality going into this project.

I love it! That statement pretty well describes my life. :ugeek: laughing6-hehe

You're a braver man than I am, but you clearly have the passion, patience, skill and perseverance to pull it off. I applaud you! [clap]

Very nice looking guitars. If they look good (check) and sound good (?), you'll probably sell them.

Thanks buddy!

Most people whom have heard them say they are great sounding so I'm banking on the fact that they are telling the truth laughing6-hehe

Really depends on whose telling you. Hard to get good feedback from friends unless they really know what they are talking about. No one wants to hurt your feelings. A good player who has experience with fine instruments will usually be pretty straight with you, or a builder who builds great guitars. On sellers, I'd find out who you can trust in your area.

Very nice. In fact WAY better than my first few. I like the dread a lot.

Can you elaborate on the wood choices and finish?

The headstock reminds me of JJ Donohue's headstock as well...which reminds me of Petros, or Ovation, or... that's ok, it's a nice shape.

It really is some fancy Bubinga on the other one, eh?

That bubinga so sweet......
What did you use for a finish on these? And are they buffed?
