Hello Friends,
I am planning ahead and looking into some herringbone trim for an instrument.
I have read the horror stories.
I figure it is best to start with the best materials possible, if possible.

Hans,
I don't know what horror stories you've heard.
I have used Allied's stuff ( Gurian ) for several guitars and have been happy with the results.
Plain "Martin syle" herringbone.
I also use the single or "rope" purfling.
I look it over carefully when I get it in, and I try to keep my stock separated by order date, to keep the "batches" together.

We have plenty of wheat here in Kansas, USA and you can buy it by the bushel!
Hurry, though, the price keeps going up.

Hans: If you are looking for regular herringbone perfling you might try LMI. I've used their product for years with no trouble.
